=== GEDCOM Note === [BBrock.FTW] James C. Vanderpool, son of Wynant and Nancy Linville was born in 1823. He was married to Louisa T. Warren in 1853 in Platte City, Platte County, Missouri. Louisa Warren Vanderpool died in 1873 in Vigo County, Indiana. They had at least three children, George Washington, Mary Francis and Peter. James C. Vanderpool married Margaret Mack in Terre Haute, Vigo Count y, Indiana, in 1876. Before his marriage, he served a civilian teamster in the Mexican War in 1846 and 1847, under Captain Tolman, Asst. Quarter Master, 29 Tennessee Militia. In 1855, after hism arriage to Louisa Warren, he was in Kickapoo, Kansas Territory and in 1858 in Atchison County, Kansas Territory. By the 1860 Federal Census, they were in Vermillion County, Indiana. James was 36; L ouisa 27 (born in Indiana); George H., 6; Frances, 8; and Peter, 9 months. As Louisa Warren Vanderpool was born in Indiana they may have moved there to be near her family. In 1861, the family may ha ve moved to Illinois. Vigo and Vermillion Counties in Indiana were on the Indiana - Illinois border. However, Jackson County, Illinois where James C. Vanderpool signed up for service in the Civil Wa r, is in the Southeast part of Illinois on the Illinois - Missouri border. He was mustered out in Shelby County, Illinois in 1864. Louisa Warren Vanderpool died in 1873 in Vigo County, Indianaand i t is unknown if she ever left there during the Civil War, or remained and James C. returned to Indiana after being mustered out in Illinois. At some point he must have returned to Indiana as here-mar ried in Vigo County, Indiana after the death of Louisa Warren Vanderpool. The following records were obtained by Pricia "Pat" Paulkovich, Vanderpool descendant and researcher: Information from BLVt5 5-160-85168 Residence in 1855: Kickapoo, Kansas Territory 1858: Atchison County, Kansas Territory Employed at Memphis, Tennessee, November 1846 from wich place he, with a number of other men employed as teamsters, were under the charge of Captain Tolman, proceeded to Camargo, Mexico.
