Er ist verheiratet mit Maud Mary BARNES.
Sie haben geheiratet am 12. August 1908 in St John the Evangelist, Lambeth, Surrey, England, er war 39 Jahre alt.Quellen 3, 9
Kind(er):
According to his naval record he was an "Arethusa Boy" which ties in with Trudy Meeks story that he was on training ship HMS Arethusa moored at Chatham it belonged to the Shaftesbury Foundation.
Was also supposed to be a ranked Naval Officer.
Wounded at sea in 1WW.
? Military Funeral would have been announced in the South London Press - but why would he have had a military funeral?????
Have problem with his date of birth as follows:
He was 40 at 1911 census therefore born in 1871 place of birth given as St Pancras Naval record would concur with this as it gives his DOB as 1st March 1871.
His first Naval entry is for 31 July 1886 (Aged 15)
There was definitely a second John Samuel Grist born to James and Eliza - there might have been a 3rd one too born in 1869 (in order for him to be 2 at 1871 census) although there is no record of his death.
He was 12 1881 and 2 at 1871 census therefore born in 1869 place of birth Lyncombe, Bath
BUT was aged 3 at 1861 census therefore born in 1858 place of birth Lyncombe, Bath
BUT the place of residence for each of the 1861, 71 and 81 census is the same and ???? (unfinished train of thought)
Letter from Ausrtalia states that his age on wedding cert was 31 not 37 and Irene says she had Birth Cert as Sept 1877
