LifeSketch: E V Taylor was a 'Texas cowboy', according to family stories. Mary 'Mollie' Scarborough wanted to marry him. Her father said he would disown her if she did. Mollie married him anyway. He was later in a gunfight and was shot. Before he died he asked his best friend Abe Spears to take care of Mollie. They were later married and had 4 children. the Ham Creek neighborhood, three miles from here, John Birge shot and killed E. V. Taylor. The two men had cherished a grudge against each other for some time, and were known to have been carrying weapons with deadly intent. ears that Taylor opened fire. At any rate there were several shots fired on both sides, with the fatal result stated. Taylor lived a few hours only. in jail awaiting a preliminary hearing.
