Was Police Sergeant at Parnell when he was appointed to Samoa as District Commissioner. Dad wrote about it in his war diary when he arrived in Egypt so this must have been after May, possibly June 1941. When he returned in 1951 we went up to Auckland during the summer school holidays. He gave me fans and necklaces, jewellery made from tortoiseshell and coconut bras etc. He gave me a magic fan to make me stop wetting the bed - and do you know, I never wet the bed again.
