A Golden Wedding.

'Eurilla', the Mount Lofty residence of Sir William and Lady Milne, was unusually gay on Saturdayafternoon, 5 March, on the occasion of the golden wedding of the proprietor and his wife. More than a hundred guests accepted invitations to share in the commemoration of the unique event. The weather was delightful, and a most pleasant afternoon was spent. The scene in the shady plantation adjoining the house and beautiful garden where the company assembled to congratulate Sir William and Lady Milne upon their marriage jubilee was a gay and animated one. Refreshments, including seasonable delicacies of all sorts, were provided, and a band of music added considerably to the enjoyment of the occasion. It is almost needless to say that the scores of friends who accepted the hospitality of the wedded pair were profuse in their congratulations, and though no formal toasts were proposed all present wished Sir William and Lady Milne still many more years of happy wedded life. A noticeable feature of the festivities was the presence of a large number of former South Australian contemporaries of the host's in their early colonial days, while most of the others had been more or less intimately connected with Sir William whilst he was in business in the city, and when he took an active share in political affairs. It was only natural that the conversation should have largely turned upon reminiscences of the old times. The arrangements throughout were complete in every particular, and the heartiness and generality of the welcome extended to all comers made every one present feel at home.

The company dispersed towards evening with the best wishes for the wedded couple, who had made their guests cordially welcome, and who are evidently so hale and hearty that they may in the ordinary course of events look forward to an exceptionally long life. The majority of the near relatives of Sir William and Lady Milne were present, and nearly if not all who are included in the following list:- the Chief Justice, Sir Henry Ayers, Mr and Mrs Fred Ayers, Miss Page, the Rev W. H. A NEW REREDOS.

STRATHALBYN, November 10.- On Sunday morning an impressive dedication service was conducted by Archdeacon Bussell in Christ Church. The service was fully choral, and the congregation very large. The piece of church furniture dedicated was a reredos of beautiful design. The pillars and' crosspiece were richly carved, lilies and roses having prominent place, and meeting a shield with the letters I.H.S. in bold relief. The three panels were bordered with carved work. The whole is of Australian blackwood. It was carved in Adelaide by a lady. This gift was made by members of the Milne family to the memory of their mother, the late Lady Milne. A brass plate affixed to the base of the centre panel bears the following inscription:-"To the glory of God, and in devoted memory of Eliza Milne. 1818-1912." The Archdeacon presented a touching address, in which he made special reference to the many good qualities of the deceased lady. The whole ceremony will live long in the memories of those privileged to participate in it.
