John Cook to Ephraim Cook

This indenture made this 4th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy two between John Cook of Chatham County and North Carolina of the one part and Ephraim Cook of the county aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said John Cook for and in consideration of the sum of ten pounds current money of North Carolina to him in hand paid by said Ephraim Cook before ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said John Cook doth hereby acknowledge and every part and parcel thereof doth fully clearly and absolutely assign enumerate and discharge the siad Ephraim Cook his heirs exers' and admin. And assignees by these presents for diverse good causes and considerations him hereunto moving hath granted bargained and sold aliened enforced and confirmed unto the siad Ephraim Cook his heirsexers. Admin. And assignees a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and fifty acres be the same more or less lying in the aforesaid county on the East side of Dry Creek beginning at Dry Creek thence South to Coplin corner thence West to the Creek thence down the said creek to the beginning it being part of a tract of land surveyed for Edward Clanton with all woods water provisions remainder, and remainders and every part and parcel thereof and the estate right and title. To have and to hold the said parcel of land singular otherpremises thereunto before mentioned or intended to be hereby granted with its and every of its appurtenances unto the siad Ephraim Cook his heirs exers. And admin. And assignees forever and I the siad John Cook my heirs exers. Admin. And assignees to and with the said Ephraim Cook his heirs exers. And admin. Or assignees that the siad John Cook at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents and standeth lawfully seized of and in the above premises of a pureand perfect estate in fee simple and hath good full power and lawful authorityto grant and sell and convey the same and that the aforesaid land is free and clear from all other grants titles dowreys or rents and from all other encumbrances whatsoever hath or that hath or may claim any title hereunto and I the siad John Cook further oblige myself my heirs exers. Or assignees said Ephraim Cook his heirs or assignees that I the said John Cook will make any other deed or instrument in writing for the better security of the above demised premises as by the said Ephraim Cook his heirs exers. Admin assignees his or their council learned in the same shall reasonable require. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first mentioned.
