1. Beaufort County Deeds 27, p.211. Stephen Whitely and Penny his wife, Asa Woolard and Mary his wife, Benjamin Braddy, Alfred Braddy, William Braddy, Ashley Woolard and Alphia his wife, Emanuel Jefferson, John Jefferson, Dozle Jefferson, Ameniah Braddy, Franklin Braddy, Nothy and Ann and George Braddy, the last nine being infants, suieng by their next of kind, and next friend Ashley Woolard filed a petition in the Court of Equity in 1851. Setting forth that sometime about 1848 Benjamin Braddy of said county, died intestate and seized of a parcel of land in said county, and on the north side Pamlico River at Ruzzen Point, containing 150 acres which he purchased of Samuel V. Oden, and left surviving him, Milly Braddy, his widow, who has since died and the following children, to wit. - Henry Braddy, Penny wife of Stephen Whitely, Mary Ann, wife of Asa Woolard, Alphia wife of Ashley Woolard, Benjamin Braddy, Alfred Braddy, William Braddy, Sally Ann Braddy and the following grandchildren:

The court decreed that the said land should be sold upon credit of 6 months. Whereas the Master of the Court of Equity reported to the said Court, that the land had been sold to Ashley Woolard, being the highest bidder.
