Agnita M. Lawler, 94, of Batavia, Ill., formerly of DeKalb, passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva.
She was born June 5, 1914, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mathilda (Ryner) Engler.
Agnita married Edward M. Lawler on April 19, 1941, in Beloit, Wisconson Agnita was a member for more than 60 years of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb, where she also was a member and officer of Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar and Rosary Society.
She was formerly employed by DeKalb School District, where she worked as a secretary at Huntley Middle School until her retirement in 1976.
Agnita volunteered at several local charities. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, John Lawler of Bellingham, Wash., Bill (Susan) Lawler of Winslow, Ariz., Michael Lawler of Westlake Village, Calif., Ann (Bill) Adams of Chester, Va., Mary Altman of Batavia and Joe Lawler of Crestline, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Lauren and Rebecca Adams, Meg (Matt) Brennan, Ian (Jennifer) and Sasha Lawler, Amy (Marshall) Gatten, Julie Lawler, Jennifer (Stephen) Peplow, Rachel and Michael Lawler; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Therese Ann Kimbrel of Beloit, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Engler of Beloit, Wis.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 1954; two brothers; three sisters; and her parents.
