Ernest C. Boudreau Jr., of Bridgewater, formerly of Arcadia, FL, died peacefully on Nov. 18, at the age of 73.
Ernest was raised in Fitchburg and was the loving son of Ernest and Dorila (Gingras) Boudreau and was one of thirteen siblings. He was proud of being a first-generation American and he joined the U.S. Navy in 1954.
He retired from the service in 1973 as a Chief Petty Officer. He served on various ships including the USS Bronson, USS Randolph, and USS Robert A. Owens and was also responsible for the pilot program that brought new recruits the ability of choice in selection MOS positions for which he received a commendation medal.
Ernest married Patricia Conlon on July 2, 1960, and the two lived on numerous Navy bases before moving to Boston where he worked at the recruiting station.
Ernest, after retiring from the Navy, worked for State Street for over 25 years, alongside his wife in the pension department and he retired in 1995.
Ernest loved being with his family and he had a passion for camping, red wine, specifically Chianti and travelling. He was a past Troop Leader of Boy Scout Troop #20 in Brockton and was a member of The Tin Can Sailors, Fleet Reserve, and Florida Chief Petty Officers Associations.
Ernest was the loving husband of 51 years to Patricia Boudreau of Bridgewater; loving father of Jo-Ann M. and her husband Edward Corr of Bridgewater, Steven E. and his wife Ann of Brockton, Robert C. of CT, and Michael J. of MO. Loving "Pepere" to Nicholas, Alycia, Eric, Micala, Michael Jr., the late Joseph and great- grandfather of Zachery and Lilliana. Also survived by his sisters; Jeanette Gerard of Fitchburg, Loretta Lacasse of Orange, and Grace Mathiew of Fitchburg. A funeral home service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. at the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater, followed by a burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery,
