Ilse, 79, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Adolph Iver Ilse was born to Arthur and Julia (Moe) Ilse on June 5, 1928 in Pipestone, Minn. As a young boy he moved with his family to Egan, S.D., where he was raised and educated. He served with the U. S. Army, 1946-71. Following his discharge, he moved to Mitchell, S.D., where he farmed and worked as a handyman. Adolph married Pat in 1968 in Mitchell. She died in 1978. In 1979 Adolph moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., where he worked as a security guard. Adolph married Doris Conn on June 10, 1979 in Sioux Falls. He retired in 2006, and they moved to Detroit Lakes in 2007. Adolph was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He enjoyed spending time with his family, dis-assembling engines, his farm animals, dogs and cats, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and storytelling. Survivors include his wife, Doris Ilse of Detroit Lakes; children, Melody (Todd) Thomas of Callaway, Lorna (Rick) McMullen of Portland, Ore., Forrest (Yvonne) Moncrief of Texas, Ferrell Moncrief of Inwood, Iowa, Gloria Moncrief of Colorado, Fern Moncrief of Montana, Ruby Moncrief of Texas, Jennifer (Juan) Mendoza of Texas and Jimmie Moncrief of Washington; 26 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Gail Mayberry of Citrus Heights, Calif.; as well as brothers, Glen of Sioux Falls, Gerald (Gladys) of Milwaukee, Wis., Gary (Cindy) of Des Moines, Iowa, and Donald (Loretta) of Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia. In addition to his first wife, Pat, Adolph was preceded in death by a brother, Philip; and one sister, Joan Mavis. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 23 at Emmanuel Nursing Home Chapel in Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. Del Stohs officiating.
