Everett Medema, age 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Linden Christian Health Care Center on September 5, 2004 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
He was born on June 9, 1921 in Everett, WA where he lived most of his life. He graduated from Snohomish High School and attended Calvin College. He served as a radar man on a B-29 while stationed in Guam during World War II. He was a faithful and dedicated employee at wonder Bread for 37 years.
He is survived by his wife Betty; daughters, Judy Medema of Anacortes, WA, Joanne Vanden Berg and husband Jack of Holland, MI, Susan Shultz and husband Bob of Grand Rapids, MI, and Sally Cook and husband Bob of Lynden, WA; grandchildren: Amanda and Zach; Betsy and Brooke; Bethany, Rob and Joe; Brady and Emma; and one great grandchild, Olivia. He is also survived by his sisters, Margie Wrisley and husband Art, Nancy Stavinga and husband Jim; and sisters-in-law, Priscilla Medema and Barbara Medema. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Clarence.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 10th from 10 AM until 5 PM at Purdy & Walters with Cassidy Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at the Everett Christian Reformed Church on Saturday, September 11th at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lynden Christian School or the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden.
