It was a well-finishedlog building and for years was the hospitable mansion of itsproprietor and was one of the old landmarks of Carroll County.It was considered the best house within the limits of thecounty. It was located immediately north of the section linebetween sections 52 and 53 on the east side of Standley'sBranch, and about fifty yards distant in what is known asTrotter's pasture.In July, 1822 John Standley was a member of the first grandjury. At this term of court he and his wife Rebecca in opencourt acknowledged thedeed to the eighty acres of land on whichthe town of Carrollton is now locatedto John Morse, FelixRedding, and John Lewellyn, members of the County Court.
