COUNTRY WEDDING
T a wedding at North Motton Methodist Church on
Easter Saturday, at 6 p.m., the bride was Shirley,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Chilcott, North Motton.
Bridegroom was Athol, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Shadbolt,
New street, Ulverstone. Misses Kathleen Wilson and Nola
Guthrie (Melbourne), decorated the church in a scheme
of red-and-white, using dahlias, gladioli, carnations and
spraying Easter daisy.
OWING to the illness of their
father, Mr. B. Chilcott
gave away his sister whose
low-waisted gown of white
satin and lace was cut with a
full circular skirt, falling to a
slight train. Yoke of lace bod
ice, with long satin sleeves
pointed at wrists, was scallop
ed over Inserted satin Single
string of pearls was worn, and
a pearl tiara held the em
broidered veil. White gladioli
and charm dahlias, lightened
with fern, were in the small
bouquet; White cushion was
I lent by bride's sister, Mrs. C.
James, Taroona.
Rev. A. J. Blanksby (Ulver
stone) officiated. Miss J.
Chilcott, the bride's sister,
was organist. Mr. J. M'Neill
sang "My Prayer," and also
rendered two solos at the
reception.
Identical frocks of pale green
moire taffeta were worn by
the 'maids, Kathleen Wilson,
the bride's cousin and sister,
Janice Chilcott. Taffeta frills
trimmed sides of full, gored
skirts, from waist to hemline.
The waists, rounded at back,
and the yokes of matching
green lace, were also frilled.
Small puffed sleeves and mit
tens were of the green lace,
and headdresses were double
lace frills, caught each side
with sprays of deep red phlox.
Charnf dahllas and carnations
of the same rich red were car
ried. 'Groom's gifts, two
Strand pearl necklets, were
worn.
'Groom's attendants were his
brother, Mr. Errol Shadbolt,
and Mr. Ian Thompson. Ushers
were Messrs. D. Chilcott and
W. Peck.
Diane Layton (Kindred),
small niece of the 'groom,
placed a dainty horseshoe on
the bride's arm.
Guests motored to Ulver
stone for reception in Lakin's
Lounge, Crescent Street where
white gladioli, bonfire salvia
and Easter daisy decked the
tables. Three-tiersd cake,
made by bride's mother, was
decorated by Mrs. L. Bellin
ger, Abbotsham.
Bride's mother received in
än orchid pink angora frock
with mandarin collar, under
fawn sWingback coat, pinned
with a spray of cream and
burgundy carnations. Veiling
softened her burgundy hat.
and accessories were junior
navy. Bridegroom's mother,
who made the bouquets for
the bridal party, relieved her
grey suit with a blue blouse.
Matching blue feather was In
wine velvet hat. and accessor
ies were black. Rosebuds and
French marigolds were arran
ged ns a shoulder spray.
Honeymoon was a motor
tour of Tasmania. For travel
ling, the bride wore a frock of
dusty pink, under swingback
coat of junior navy with mat
ching accessories. North Mot
