A report received by the Port Pirie
police about a missing port Augusta
girl led to enquiries, and the appear-<*>
ance in court today of William Gordon
Goldsmith Fraser, of Florence street.
Port Pirie, formerly of Tasmania, on a
charge of having on October 25, made
a false declaration to the Rev. Prank
K. Trench that lus name was Ronald
Brown, and that Thelma May Holtham.
a girl under the age of 21, was over the
age of 21, with a view to nrocuring a
marriage. Messrs. W. L Blight and C
I?. BotteraC were on the bench Ser
geant Noblet prosecuted.
In evidence. Detective Slinger said

Pirie from Adelaide about October 20
He met the girl on October 22, and three
. days later married her at the Methodist

21. The defendant's age was 27. He

PORT PIRIE, Monday.-How a man
and a young girl met for the first time
in Port Pirie and were married three
days later, "so that they could get a
job as a married couple," was related
in the Police Court today,, when Wil
liam Gordon Goldsmith Fraser, laborer,
of Florence street, Port Pirie, pleaded
guilty to a charge of having. with a
view to procuring marriage, made a
false declaration to the Rev. F. R.
French that his name was Ronald
Brown. and that 16-year-old Thelma
May Holtham was over the age of 21.
He was committed for sentence.
