James Brose Webster, 97, World War II Vet, passed on March 2, 2013, in St. George, UT.
Born Feb 6, 1916 in Loa, UT. to Mae Alberta Potter and James Edwin Webster. Spent early years as a farmer, stockman and rancher. Greatest accomplishments were his family and many friends. Brose served in the CCC's in Zion and Bryce. Married Marie Sheffield in 1941. While serving in the army, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge under General Patton and was part of The Greatest Generation. Marie and Brose moved from Loa to Salt Lake City in 1950 and raised four children. After retirement, Marie and Brose spent winters in Yuma, AZ., and summers in Fish Lake, UT, as campground hosts for many years. Brose cherished the outdoors, hunting, long walks, bike rides, dancing with his sweetheart on any occasion and teaching his grandchildren how to fish. He was grateful and proud for his rich pioneer heritage. Brose was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa and friend. He was sharp minded and could remember who, what and where right up until the end.
Brose is survived by his wife of 72 years, three children, Janice (Eldon) Fortie, Barbara (David) Borup and Glen, four grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also survived by three sisters, Katie (Blaine) Chappell, Faye (Hatch-Taylor,) Larna (Keith) Busenbark.
Preceded in death by daughter Joyce Webster Ford, grandson, Jerry Layne Fortie, a brother William (Charlotte), two sisters Mae (Thurman) Westenskow and Elna (Nelson) Denney.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Loa LDS church at 12 noon. Interment will follow at the Loa City Cemetery.Quelle 2
