BELLENGER-AYRES
A pretty wedding took place at
Christchurch, Longford, on Wednesday
evening, September 18, at 7.30, when
Miss Doris Amy Ayers, only daughter
of Mr. and the late Mrs. J. C. Ayers,
of Launceston, was married to Mr.
Geoffrey G. M. Bellenger, youngest son
of Mrs. and the late Mr. W. Bellenger,
of Longford. The bride entered the
church with her father, by whom she
was given away. She was daintily at
tired in a frock of white crepe de
Chine, with silver tassels. Silver shoes
were worn. Her veil, arranged capette
fashion, was fastened with orange blos
som. A beautiful bouquet of white
camelias, white hyacinths, white spring
flowers and asparagus fern, tied with
white streamers, was carried and she
wore the bridegroom's gift, a gold circle
brooch with diamonds set in platinum.
The bridesmaid, Miss Isabel Burton,
wore a pretty frock of suede georgette,
with hat to tone. Her pretty bouquet
was of yellow spring flowers,
and yellow streamers, and she
also wore the bridegroom's gift, a gold
armlet. Miss Millie Burto4 (sister of
the bridesmaid) was cushion-bearer.
She wore a frock of pale green silk
and lace, with hat to tone.
The bridegroom's brother, Mr. Victor
Bellenger, was best man, and Mr.
Archie Ayers, brother of the brido
was groomsman. The service was fully
choral. bMiss Wright was at the organ.
Rev. T. J. Gibson was the officiating
minister.
After the ceremony a reception w-as
held at the Church of England Sunday
School. About 30 guests were enter
tained at wedding tea. The bride's
travelling frock was of powder-blue
crepe de Chine, with hat to tone. She
also wore a dark green velour coat,
with grey fur cuffs and collar. The
bride's present to the bridegroom was
a travelling rug.
