Mr. T. H. Atkins
THE death occurred in
Launceston on Monday
of Mr. Thomas Henry At-
kins, a well known Vic-
torian and Tasmanian foot-Fix this text
baller. He was aged 56.
Mr. Atkins made his
name in football in the Vic-
torian Association as a rov-
er with the Yarraville club.
He later transferred to
Tasmania, and finally settled
in Launceston, where he
played with North Launces-
ton and Launceston Football
Clubs.
He was a footrunner of
more than average class, and
the had to his credit the
Westbury double.
He had several important
professional wins, in this
sport.
Mr. Atkins was born at
Macquarie Plains in 1897. He
came to Launceston in 1912,
and served his time as a
cabinet-maker with Henry
Bills.
He then transferred to the
Alexander Racket Factory,
serving with the company
for 14 years.
The last 12 years of his
life he served as an atten-
dant at the Launceston Gen-
eral Hospital.
Mr. Atkins leaves a widow,
four daughters, Joan (Mrs.
M. Moir). Marion (Mrs. L.
Bonser), Bonnie and Bar-
bara, and one son, Noel.
The funeral will take
place at Carr Villa today.
