Life sketchI only know a few basics. Maaike joined the L.D.S. church in the Netherlands in 1902 and her husband joined shortly before their marriage. They came to America from Rotterdam to Liverpool to Boston in 1906, shortly before the birth of their first child. Their first child (my father) started kindergarten not knowing how to speak English. Fifteen years later they returned to the Netherlands. After four years in Deventer, the oldest son G.Wm. A. Kloezeman worked his way back to the United States on a steamship. Maaike and Willem divorced and the son Bill helped bring his mother, brother and sister back to the United States. Willem Andries died in Holland. Maaike remarried (Ernest Steins and Gus Kramer) and died in the United States.--This is from verbal history of her sonas told to his daughter (Ginny Kloezeman Lakey).
