SOURCE NOTES: The de- scendancy link of of John (the immigrant), son John and grand- daughter Hannah (Anna) comes from Hope Kauffman Lind, 28773 Gimpl Hill Road, Eugene, OR 97402. Married Ann MUSSELMAN (559), born about 1695, died after 1748, Earl, Lancaster Co., PA. Children of John LANDIS , THE IMMIGRANT and Ann MUSSELMAN: 1 Martin LANDIS (102), born 18 Jan 1729, died 18 Jan 1799, Bally Mennonite Cemetery, Washington, Berks Co., PA. SOURCE NOTES: It is believed that Hannah is Martin's second wife. Married Hannah ZIEGLER (101), born 1740, daughter of Christopher ZIEGLER (97) and Deborah PAWLING (98). 2 John LANDIS (560), born 11 Nov 1720, died 9 Dec 1796. Mar- ried Elizabeth BECHTOLD (660). 3 Jacob LANDIS (561). Married Mary CASSEL (562), born 1726. 4 George LANDIS (571), born 1740, Richland Township, Bucks Co., PA, died 1801. SOURCE NOTES: He was a tanner and is believed to be the youngest son of John and Ann. His grave has not been found. His will was written Feb 5, 1801 and probated Mar 3, 1801. In the Recorder of Deeds Office in Reading, Vol. A, p 304 we learn that he bought 192 acres in Colebrookdale Township, Berks Co., PA for 630 pounds from Catherine, widow of Thomas Wilson. His six children are named in DB 23, pp 164-166 of Reading, Berks Co., PA. Mar- ried Maria LATSCHAR (701), born Nov 1741, died 7 Jul 1787, Hereford Mennonite Cemetery, Washington, Berks Co., PA, daughter of Frantz LATSCHAR , EMIGRANT (702). 5 Samuel LANDIS (572), died 1771, East Swamp Mennonites, Mil- ford Township, Bucks Co., PA. SOURCE NOTES: He received the 125 acrs farmn in Lower Milford Township, Bucks Co., PA from his father's will for 150 pounds. Samuel's will, dated Nov 24, 1770 and probated Feb 12, 1771, is recorded in Philadel- phia, PA WB P, pg 59. This family is covered in "Jacoby Family Genealogy" by Henry Sylvester Jacoby, 1930. Married Margaret YOUNG (573), died before 1791. 6 Frances Veronica LANDIS (581), born 1733, died about 1823. Married Michael Willener BAUER (582), born 1718, died 1784, son of Hans BAUER (677) and Anna WILLENER (678). 7 Barbara M. LANDIS (591), born 1722, died 1800, Frederick, Montgomery Co., PA. SOURCE NOTES: Barbara Landis Bauer Miller's will was written Aug 6, 1793 and proved Oct 30, 1800. In it she mentions children John Bauer, Samuel Bauer, GenServ Report Output: vitals 14 Oct 1997 and Fronica (Veronica) wife of Abraham Schwenck The origi- nal will is in the Schwenkfelder Library, Pennsburg, PA. Married first, about 1769, Conrad MILLER (585). Married second, about 1740, Samuel Willner BAUER (590), born about 1708, died before 24 Mar 1762, son of Hans BAUER (661) and Anna WILLENER (662). 8 Elizabeth LANDIS (583), died before 11 Jan 1777. Married Peter ALLEBACH (584), died before 4 Apr 1783. 9 Eve LANDIS (658), born about 1736, died 1809, Saucon Mennon- ite Cemetery, Coopersburg, Lehigh Co., PA. SOURCE NOTES: Eve petitioned with Esther Bachman, wife of George Bachman, the Northampton Co., PA court on Sept. 9, 1778 for consider- ation and mitigation on the severity of banishment for the ten men, including their husbands, who could not take the oath or affirmation of allegiance to the Commonwealth of PA as required by Act of Assemby first passed June 13, 1777 - and later "the act for further Security of the Government" passed April 1, 1778. The property and goods of most of these 10 families had already been seized by the sheriff. The Jacob Yoder property was sold Sept 1, 1778 and realized over 700 pounds. The petition was presented to the Assembly on Sept 10, 1778 and referred to the Executive Council, with the recommendation to them to inquire into the facts set forth in the petition, and if the same was found true, re- lief was to be granted to their present distresses, as they might think proper by a draft on the State Treasurer. The minutes of the Executive Council show that the petition was received by them on Sept 17, 1778 and John Ralston, Peter Rhodes and Doctor Linn were ordered to make an inquiry and report to the Council. No further mention of the matter ap- pears in the Executive Council Minutes, and there is no record of the final disposition of this case. The grave of Jacob Yoder at Saucon Mennonite, Coopersburg has a SAR mark- er so he could not have been banished.
