AL Historical Quarterly, Fall issue 1958, pg 481. Some Descendants -- pg 275
Some Descendants of William Sellers who was in Tarboro, NC in 1750 pg 275 & 280
"Samuel & his family of fifteen, several of whom were already married, moved from Brunswick Co., NC to what was then Pike Co., Missouri Beat, AL. They reached their homestead, 25 miles north of Troy, AL on the Three Notch Road, January 29, 1835. The Sellers Cemetery is located on this land near the site of original home of Samuel Sellers. Facts given by Charles Ellis Sellers, Troy, AL in 1960. Names & dates for children of Samuel Sellers taken from his Bibles kept by Mrs. Curra Bell Faulk of Clio, AL in 1961. Samuel established the first Post Office in that part of AL & was postmaster there for a number of years until the post office was moved to Perote. The location of this first podst office was 2 1/2 miles west of Perote, AL. The name of Missouri was given to this beat because the land resembled that on the Missouri River."
It is 25 miles north of Troy, if I understand Pat's notes correctly.
