First, thank you for the birth and death dates for Harbird Harvey Hight and Nancy Caroline Kttrell. I didn't have these. I haven't been actively researching this line in a while. But, from my notes I have: Herbert Hight, Jr. b. ca 1774 m1. possibly Sarah Jones m2. Patsy R. Jones b. 1803 d. aft 1850 (dau of William Jones) For Nancy Caroline Kittrell, I have that she is the daughter of William and Tabitha KITTRELL. If you have any additional, corrected or newer information, please let us know

Many thanks for your posting. My G2 grandfather was Jonathan M. Fuller who married Mary Eliza Hight. She was a daughter of Harbird H. Hight and Martha R. Jones. Jonathan and Mary emigrated to TN sometime between 1840 and 1846. He died there between 1846 and 1850, and she headed back to NC with three small sons and a slave. She died en route, and the slave delivered the boys to the home of their maternal grandparents, where they were raised. My G3 grandfather, John Fuller, also married a Hight. She was Eleanor, daughter of Harbird Hight and Hannah Ann Haggard. My research shows that the Harbird Hight who married Martha Jones was a son of Harbird Hight and Hannah Haggard. Other researchers claim that the Harbird Hight who married Peggy Powell was this son. However, I think this Harbird (born ca 1800) was a son of Nathaniel Hight and Elizabeth Carr, and therefore a grandson of Harbird Hight and Hannah Haggard. I have a first cousin, Carolyn, who has done extensive research on our Hight connections. She found evidence in the NC Archives in Raleigh that Martha Jones and Harbird Hight were married in 1811. Therefore, Martha must have been born prior to 1803, and we think the age listed in the 1850 census is in error. Before I had Carolyn’s info I, too, thought that Harbird must have had a prior wife. Martha was certainly the daughter of William Jones because of the deed of gift. I am not absolutely certain, but I think her mother could have been Elizabeth Young, daughter of John Young and Mary (surname unknown). For many years this John was the pastor at Plank Chapel near Bobbitt. As a point of interest, John Young’s second wife was Elizabeth Hight, daughter of Harbird Hight and Hannah Haggard. I also found a Thomas D. Hight (7/23/1827 – 7/25/1909) buried at Herman UMC in Granville County. Next to his marker is one for Margarett Hight (1849 –1923). I suspect – but can’t prove – that this Thomas was also a son of Harbird Hight and Martha Jones. If so, Margarett was his second wife, and his first wife was Sally R. Stone. From other sources, I believe Margarett’s maiden name was Wade. Mike
