James Gerald was believed to be the son of Rev. Gabriel Gerald, I._b: Abt. 1750 Clarenden Co, SC - d: 10/02/1798, in the Sumter District, Clarenden Co, SC and Elizabeth White_b: Abt. 1750 Clarenden Co, SC - d: Aft. 1811 Centerville, Amite,Co, MS.
Gabriel Gerald was a patriot of Revolutionary War SC Militia. He and Elizabeth had 13 children. After Gabriel's death, Elizabeth and all her children except 3 moved to Mississippi.
James (settled Col.Co, NC), Benjamin (settled Marion Co,SC), Richard Lewis settled in Horry Co, SC)
Though it has not be proven as of yet_the name and dates all match correctly.
Rev. Gabriel Gerald was the son of James Gerald_b: 1700 SC? - d: 1789 Clarenden Co, SC, and his 2nd wife Mildred Taliaferro_b:1709 James City,
Spotsylvania Co, VA - d: Abt. 1766 High Hills Section,
Sumter District, Clarenden Co, SC....They married abt. 1749.
**Mildred Taliaferro was from a very, very prominent family
with ties to the Royal Family in England**Have all that
info. if interested.
**Also the children of James Gerald, I.(1700-1759) and his
1st w/ Unknown..settled in Horry Co and surrounding
counties...Columbus, Brunswick Co, NC..etc.
It is rumored that James Gerald was actually "James
Fitzgerald" of Ireland. Because of relegious turmoil in
Ireland, he dropped "Fitz" when entering this country or
shortly thereafter.
Trying to find proof of this.Haven't seen any paperwork w/him using Fitzgerald as of yet.

Note by HC - some years ago I ran into the Taliaferro family (currently pronounced Tolliver). The immigrant originates in Venice, Italy in the late 1500's. Was Venice Ambassador in London and his sons went to Virginia.
