BARONY OF HARINGTON (II) 1347
JOHN (DE HAVERINGTON), LORD HARINGTON, grandson and heir, being son andheir of Sir Robert DE HAVERINGTON, by Elizabeth his wife. He was aged 19and more at his grandfather's death, and on 9 September 1347 the Kingtook his fealty and he had livery of certain lands and tenements inRoshead [in Ulverston] and Urswick, Lancs. He was summoned to a Council,20 June 1357, and to Parliament from 13 November 1347 to 10 March 1348/9,by writs directed Johanni de Haryngton'. He was a commissioner in 1351and later; in 1353 he confirmed the agreement with the Abbot of Furnessmade by his grandfather; and in 1355 nominated an attorney to act for himin Ireland.
He married, said by some to have been Joan, daughter of Walter DEBIRMINGHAM. He died 28 May 1363, at Gleaston Hall in Aldingham. [CompletePeerage VI:316, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
