Mary Arlene Ireton Radford Wixom, 99, formerly of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in Bend, Oregon.. She will be remembered as being thoughtful & liked helping others. She loved her family & friends. Arlene was born July 21, 1914 in Carlton, Kansas which is a short distance from Salina, Kansas. She is the daughter of Elmer G. Ireton & Myrtie Baxter Ireton. The family moved to Blackfoot & Groveland area when she was about six years old, along with sisters, Alice & Margie. She graduated from Blackfoot High School, also taking courses from Utah State University. Arlene married Stephen Vern Radford on August 17, 1938. Their vows were later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 10, 1940. Vern passed away July 10, 1994. Later she married Raymond Wixom on October, 25, 1995. Raymond passed away February 26, 2003. She really enjoyed yard work, growing trees and flowers. One day Bonnie Bramwell saw her coming around the fence and she yelled, "Look out weed here comes Arlene." It was not unusual to see her down on her hands and knees with a pair of scissors trimming the yard along her side walk and drive way. She is a member of "Brower Camp" Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Lady Lions, Blackfoot Ladies club, she operated Roy's Ice Cream Parlor, worked as a dental assistant, was a bookkeeper for Dr. Jack Vandercreek, worked at the Christmas Tree Fantasy, worked at the Idaho Bank & Trust, INEEL, served for 20 years as a Blackfoot Stake Librarian under Presidents Gareth Ogden, Arvid Jensen & a short time for Gordon Simpson. She is survived by three sons; Stephen (Lisa) Radford of Bend, Oregon; Kent (Kay) Radford of Mapleton, Utah and Dennis Radford of Hays, Kansas. Extended sons are; Jerry (Doreen) Baca, Ski Dzbanski; a sister, Alice Garnand of Gooding, Idaho. Step daughter-in-law Linda Wixom. She has extended family including Verla Jensen, Grant (Joan) Radford, Robert (Cheryl) Radford, Irma Radford, Vesle Wixom & Marjorie Wixom. Arlene wanted to say a special thank you to nephew Gary & Maryls McCurdy who has been wonderful to her. She would also like to mention and thank her friend and neighbor Bea Christiansen. Preceding her in death were husbands Vern Radford & Raymond Wixom, parents Elmer & Myrtie Ireton, sister, Margie Herbst & brother-in-laws Charles McCurdy, Randall Herbst and Ivan Garnand step-daughter, Frankie Katseanes and step-son Douglas (Linda) Wixom, extended family, Darwin (Vestle) Wixom and Lola Herres. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho The family will meet with friends 6-8:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2013 and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
