NEWTON - Leona Eunice Proctor Sites, 92, of the Abernethy Center, formerly of Mount Olive Church Road, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at the Abernethy Center..
Born Nov. 15, 1911, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Dorus Logan and Mamie Correll Proctor..
She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and a homemaker..
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Rachel S. Hutchens and Charles U. Hutchens; a son, David Harley Sites; and three brothers, Burlie Michael Proctor, Vance Calvin Proctor and Howard “Bud” Proctor; and a son-in-law, J.B. Jones Jr..
Survivors include her husband of 75 years, Fred Leander Sites of Newton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene “Gene” and Louise Sites of Newton and Roy A. and Martha Sites of Denver; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pearl S. and John Deal of Newton and Vivian S. and Bob Jones of Maiden; a daughter-in-law, Mitsn Sites of Newton; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Eula P. and Hugh Leatherman of Vale, Ethel P. and John Lentz of Hickory, Jessie P. and David Morgan of Mooresville, Ruby P. Baucom of Maiden, Dorothy P. and Lander Bumgarner of Maiden and Olene P. Seabock of Newton; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Burlie Proctor “Pauline” of Hickory and Mrs. Vance Proctor “Helen” of Vale; 13 grandchildren; 5 stepgrandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; five stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at St. James Lutheran Church. The Revs. James Zimmerman and Eric Morphis will officiate and burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park..
The family will receive friends tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton from 6 to 8 p.m..
