GASTONIA - Patricia "Pat" M. Ratchford, 59, died Jan. 14, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
A native of McAdenville, she was the daughter of the late George Vernon Mayes Sr.
She attended Gaston County Schools and graduated from Ashbrook High School in its first class, class of 1971. Pat was a 39 year employee of PSNC, Public Service Co. of N.C. and served in many different offices there, most recently as a budget analyst. She was a very active member of McAdenville Wesleyan Church, where she and her sister were solely in charge of church decorations, she was a church soloist and choir member, she served as secre-tary of the Sister to Sister group, a Sunday School teacher, children's ministry, and the church building committee. She truly loved God, her family, and her friends.
In addition to her mother, Margaret Hardin Mayes of Gastonia, Pat is survived by her husband of 37 years, Paul Neil Ratchford, Jr. of Gastonia; a son and fiancé, Brian Ratchford and Claudia Gomez of Northridge, CA; mother-in-law, Margaret Meek Ratchford of Gastonia; brother and sister-in-law, George V. "Chuck" Mayes, Jr. and Kathy of Gastonia; Sister and brother-in-law, Terry and Andy Ratchford of Gastonia; sisters-in-law and spouses, Libby and Calvin Reese of Clover, SC, and Ellen and John Cox of Kennesaw, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Brian Matherly and Steve Beam at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at McAdenville Wesleyan Church, 300 Wesleyan Drive, McAdenville.
Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to McAdenville Wesleyan Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 365, McAdenville, NC 28101.
McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia is in charge of arrangements.
