He was a native of Norfolk and resided for many years in New York City and Pasadena, California. For the past 7 years, he had made his home with his sister, Mrs. MARSHALL DOZIER LLOYD in Washington. He was a member of Norfolk Lodge No 1, A.F. & A.M. Besides his sister, he is survived by 4 nieces, Mrs. MYRA WHITEHURST KITTRELL of Washington, Mrs. EDITH DOZIER SHUTTS of Los Angeles, Mrs. ELSIE DOZIER STANWORTH and Mrs. MILDRED WHITEHURST MACHEN of Norfolk; 4 nephews, MARSHALL N. WHITEHURST of Silver Springs, Maryland, ALBERT J. WHITEHURST of Atlanta, Georgia, MARSHALL M. DOZIER of Richmond and Commander HOWARD M. LLOYD of the US Navy in Washington; 5 great nieces; 5 great nephews; 2 great great nieces and 3 great great nephews. Services will be conducted at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts Thursday, September 8, 1955 at 11:00 am by the Rev MOULTRIE GUERRY, rector of St Paul's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
