TRAGEDY AT CHINA SPRINGS
Mrs. Tom Burge Thrown From a Wagon and Her Back Broken. Daughter Injured
News reached Waco this morning of a distressing accident yesterday afternoon near China Springs, in which Mrs. Tom Burge, wife of a farmer,was killed and their 7 year old daughter badly injured.
Mrs. Burge, son and daughter, had started to Waco in a wagon, the sondriving. They live about three miles from China Springs, on the Bosque. When they were about a mile from home it was said that Mrs. Burge and daughter concluded to raise their parasol to keep off the burning rays of the sun. When they raised it the team became frightened and ran, despite the efforts of the boy to control them. Mrs. Burge was thrown out, her back broken, and she died in about 45 minutes. The girl was bruised up badly, but will live it is thought.
Mrs. Burge was about 50 years old and leaves a husband and children. The accident cast a gloom over the entire community.
