Wiley Jerome Tarter Sr., 62, of Tarter Cemetery Road passed away March 16, 2001 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Bessie Halcomb Tarter and Jerome Tarter. He was a laborer for Kron International Trucks, US Navy Veteran, served on the USS Forrestal, Sunday School Superintendent and trustee on Church Board for many years and member of the Naomi Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his wife, Clarene A. Daulton Tarter, whom he married Oct. 6, 1960 in Somerset, son, Wiley Jerome Tarter Jr. (Pam), two daughters, Norma Jean Tarter, Jacqueline R. Durham (Michael) all of Nancy, five sisters, Pauline Chadwell, Kathern Bradley (Herb) both of Cinn. OH, Edna Burton, Mina Marcum (Milford) both of Nancy, Melva June Dick of Somerset, twelve grandchildren, Whitney J. Smith, Brooke, Holly and Jarred Poltson, Mason Daulton Durham, Blake and Andrew Durham, Quinton Litton, Jeremiah, Justin and Star Litton, Charity Riggs and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Roscoe, Everett and Dennis Tarter, two sisters, Irene Young and Hazel Bogle.
Funeral Services 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 18,2001 at Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with the Revs. Gene Wells and Bob Stokes officiating. Burial in the Tarter Cemetery in Nancy, KY, Military Honors by American Legion Post #38. Visitation after 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17 at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
