Life Legacy
Macie G. Wylie, 95, of Russellville, died Sunday, May 13, 2007 at his home. The son of Marion Henry and Ellen McGee Wylie, he was born September 25, 1911 in Pottsville. He served in the United States Navy from 1934 until 1938 on the Flag Ship USS Pennysylvania. During World War II he served in the on the USS Vixen and on the Destroyer USS Herbert in the Atlantic, the Mediterranen and the Carribbean Theatres. Following the war, Macie worked in Russellville as a small business owner and for Gardner Funeral Home for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Rogers-Rye Post #2283 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a charter member of the P.K. Merrill Sunday school class. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Jewel Wylie Teeter and Lorene Wylie Rankin and two brothers, Eual Wylie and Milton Wylie.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Martha Teeter Wylie, Russellville; a son, Wilson Wylie, Russellville and a sister, Ann Lee Humphrey, Lubbock, TX.
Funeral will be at 2 PM Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Humphrey Chapel. Rev. Matthew Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm Wednesday until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 304 South Commerce, Russellville, AR 72801.
