He was born on Feb. 4, 1938, in Opelika, Ala., and had lived in Manhattan for the past decade.

Manhattan Mercury, The (KS) - October 24, 2005 Deceased Name: Charles Kittrell Charles E. Kittrell, 67, of Manhattan, died Saturday morning, Oct. 22, at the Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan.
He was born on Feb. 4, 1938, in Opelika, Lee County, Ala., the son of Homer F. and Cora Lee (Dolar) Kittrell. He was raised in Opelika where he attended school. At a young age, he moved to Denver,where he became a painting contractor for residential custom homes. He retired in 1986.
On May 20, 1960, in Denver, he married the former Arlene L. Johnson. Together they lived in Denver until moving to Manhattan 10 years ago.
Mr. Kittrell attended church at the First Assembly of God upon moving to Manhattan. His family said he was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting when he was younger, and fishing, working in his yard and gardening in later years. The family said he also enjoyed bowling and tinkering on old cars. The family said he always took great pride in whatever he was doing, and he loved spending time with his family and friends and especially loved children.
He is survived by his wife Arlene of the home; and by two sons, Clyde and his wife Tara of Woodland, Wash., and Jerry of Manhattan. Also surviving are three brothers: William of Ft. Payne, Ala., Jerry of Longview, Tex., and Larry of Jacksons Gap, Ala., and one sister: Betty Miljonovich of Charlotte, N.C. Five grandchildren: Corey House, Scott, Lonnie, Joshua and Brandon and eight great-grandchildren: Andrew, Meaghan, Joshua, Jr., Hannah, Nicoli, Kolbi, Coleman and Avery.
He was preceded in death by one son: Johnnie on Feb. 8, 1975, by his parents, by three brothers: Johnnie, Jimmie and Clyde and by one sister: Katherine Riddle.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel with Pastor Todd Weston officiating. Burial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fairmount Cemetery in Denver. Family and friends may call anytime Monday evening and until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
