He was the first heavy weight champion in Detroit, Mich. Mr. Paul had a passion for flying and at one time owned four airplanes, flying salesmen across the country for several businesses. In 1970, Charles trained Ladies Choice walking horse champions. Later in life, he played golf on the PGA Senior Tour, and started making custom golf clubs that found their way as far as Barcelona, Spain.
Mr. Paul possessed a marvelous voice and once sang on the Grand Ole Opry. He also preached the gospel for more than 30 years. When asked what was the best thing he ever did, he replied “I married my wife!”
