C-9.64 ROBERT CURRIN Last Will and Testament, 1802

Montgomery County, Virginia. Will Book 1 pages 124, 125, 126,January 1802.

[This will was filed in Montgomery Co., however, Robert Currin resided southeast of Newbern in
what is now Pulaski Co., VA. Although notmentioned in the will his wife was Ann Thomasson,
daughter of George Thomasson Sr., High Sheriff of Louisa Co., VA.]

In the name of God, Amen. I, RobertCurrin of the County of Montgomery and State of Virginia,
being weak in bodybut perfect in mind and memory and duly considering the uncertainty of human
life, do make this my last Will and Testament. First, I commit my Soul into the hand of that
merciful God who gave it and my body I resign to the earth.As to my temporal estate, I
dispose of it in the following manner: First I desire that all my just debts be paid. I give
and bequeath to my beloved wifeall the lands, slaves, stock, utensils, household furniture
here belonging to me. With said exceptions and bequeath as shall hereafter be mentioned, but
and in case she continues in her widowed estate, but if she should marry, thenand in that case
I give and bequeath to her hereafter one third part of allmy estate, the legacies and bequeaths
as before mentioned or implied. I giveand bequeath to my sons, George, James, William and
Hugh, a bed and furniture, and three cows and calves at any time after they are of age. I give
or bequeath to my three sons, Robert, Jonathan and Waddy all my lands to be equally divided in
quantity and quality by my executors hereafter mentioned or by menappointed by the worshipful
court of Montgomery for that purpose, allotting to Robert, the mansion house and what is called
the old tract. To Jonathan, the Upland Place and to Waddy the part purchased of Jonathan
Ingram. And in case the division cannot be equally made without injuring the lands, by taking
from or adding to either part, the person or persons receiving the better or more valuable part
or parts to pay the other or others the difference, to be adjudged by the person dividing the
same. Same time, in case the two youngestshould become of age or either of them, before the
decease of their mother,to be put in possession of their parts; I give and bequeath to my
daughters,Christiana and Anne, and my sons, Jonathan and Waddy each a horse, saddle and bridle,
a bed and furniture and three cows and calves, when and as they respectfully become of age. I
give and bequeath all my personal estate, at the decease of my wife, to my sons John, George,
James, William and Hugh and my daughters Mary, Christiana and Anne, includes the negroes they,
John and Mary, have already received to be a part of their legacy, to be to them equally
divided by my executors or persons appointed as advice, And further, I direct my executor to
educate my sons, Jonathan and Waddy in the manner as their older brothers have. Heretofore
being at the expense of the estate left to my wife. Igive and bequeath to my son Robert, a
bed, furniture and three cows and calves to be delivered to him when he comes of age. I
constitute and appoint mythree sons, John, George and James, Executor of this, my Last Will
and Testament, hoping they will take the burden of the administration thereof upon them,and do
revoke any other will or wills by me made and do declare this to be myLast Will and Testament.

Signed with my seal and dated the ninth day of Junein the year of our Lord, One thousand eight
hundred and one.
