LEXINGTON - All praise and thanksgiving to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit for the life of Killough Henry White, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. Killough, who never knew a stranger and touched the lives of many people, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at the Presbyterian Communities in Lexington, S.C.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, in the Chapel of the Columbia Presbyterian Community in Lexington, S.C., with the Rev. Mike and Fran Bragan officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Old Purity Cemetery in Chester, S.C., with the Rev. Fred Powell III officiating.
The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
Born June 8, 1923, in Chester, S.C., Mr. White was the son of the late Killough H. White Sr. and Martha Elizabeth Hardin White. He was a graduate of Chester High School and attended N.C. State University. He was retired from the Chester Post Office and was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Marines. He was a member of the Marines Night Fighters Association and the National Rural Letter Carriers Association and also a member of Providence Presbyterian Church in W. Columbia, S.C., and formerly an active member of Purity Presbyterian Church in Chester for over 60 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nolie Chambers "Pat" White and a sister, Martha Elizabeth White.
He is survived by one daughter, Catherine W. "Kitty" Billingsley and her husband, Bill "Sonny" of W. Columbia; three sons, Killough H. "Chip" White III and his wife, Dee Dee of Charleston, S.C., John R. White and his wife, Cindy of Blackstock, S.C., and William H. "Bill White and his wife, Gena of Blythewood, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Dory, Will, Sam and Emily White, all of Blythewood, S.C., and Amanda White-Gue' and her husband, Bubba, Meridith E. White and Mary Jane Bluemel and her husband, Chris, all of Charleston, S.C., and Matthew M. Billingsley and his wife, Charlotte of Charleston, S.C.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of the Presbyterian Home and Tri-County Hospice for their loving care.
