Prior "Pink" McEntire disappeared from Grant County Ark in the mid 1800's (1850 to 1860). His wife reappeared without him in a different community with her children. Cannot find Prior (Prier) after that. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Could this be your missing Prior McEntire? In the 1860 census Darysaw Township, Jefferson Co AR, lists:
P. McEntire 53 farmer b - NC
Jemima 51 b-NC
Sam'l 22 b-NC
Charlotte 21 b - NC
John 18 twin b NC
Joseph 18 twin b- NC
Tho.mas 14 b-NC

If indeed this is your missing Prior, I have more info to share. This McEntire line goes back to Alexander born ca 1710-13.
I would be a cousin to this line, many times removed. Sue

Yes indeed it is Pink. He has disappeared, between the 1860 census and the 1870 census when Jemima appeared in the Glendale, Lincoln County area living with her son William. I have no information on Pink after the 1860 Census He is my GGGrandfather. My closest direct connection is to Margaret Dulcina McEntire, mother of my grandmother.I would like to learn more. My email address is (XXXXX@XXXX.XXX) . I used to live in Pine Bluff.

I am researching the family of Henry McEntyre (born ca 1825 in NC) who married Mary Cross. I believe he may be the father of John Henry McEntyre (who was born ca 1859 in Georgia) who married Annie Jackson Maddox (Annie later remarried Cincinatus Calbert or Calvert?).

The 1860 Gilmore, GA census lists Henry L (T?) married to Mary with children Elizabeth (age 11), Thomas A (age 9), Arena/Anna (age 7), Manerva (age 4), and John H (age 1). Other than this (matching place and date of birth), I don't have any conclusive proof that Henry and Mary are the parents of John Henry McEntire Sr. Henry and Mary are also in the 1870 Gilmore, GA census and the 1880 Murray, Georgia census. Later children of Henry and Mary per census information include Madison, Andrew, James, Joseph, and Martha. The census records indicate the birthplace of Henry McEntire as N. Carolina.

I am hoping to connect with any descendants of those listed above OR the descendants of John Henry Sr and Annie Jackson Maddox McEntire. Their children included Lela Francis (Fannie) Martin, Mary Wylie Calvert, John Henry, Jr. and Jesse Hickson. They were all born in AR. I have been in contact with Janet McEntyre (a descendant of John Henry McEntire Sr) and we are both hoping to unravel some mysteries. It would be great to confirm that Henry and Mary Cross are the parents of John Henry McEntire Sr who ended up in Craighead Co and Crittenden Co AR.

We always wondered why John Henry McEntire Sr. would name his daughter Mary Wylie. I've seen information on the boards that the parents of Henry McEntire (DOB ca 1825) are John Alexander and Elizabeth Wylie. Interesting coincidence on the name.

We've also been trying to find a marriage record for John Henry McEntire Sr and Annie Jackson Maddox(?) on 1 Apr 1879 (per familysearch.org) supposedly in Cross, AR but have been unable to obtain an actual copy.

If anyone is able to share information on the McEntire line, including ancestors before Henry, I would be most appreciative. Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.

We have an ancestry.com MyFamily site that includes these Wylies. It is a private site open only to descendants and spouses of descendants of the covered Wylies. If my address does not show, it is the name Adam Wylie Kin with dots in between at gmail.com, standard form. I have been trying to reach Jan McEntyre so please pass this address to her as well.

Despite my screen name of Adam Wylie Kin, there is zero evidence that these Wylies descend from our Adam and Jean Wylie. However my grandfather had three out of four grandmothers with maiden name Wylie and two of them are rumored by various posters to be possible descendants. The third Wylie family, all for now unrelated by any documentation or significant lore, is this one.
