Simon was commissioned a 2nd Lieut. in Capt. John VAN PATTEN's company of the 2nd Albany Militia. His farm was 4 miles from Sch'dy. on the Mohawk Turnpike leading to Utica, adjoining the property of John HAVERLY. It contained 125 acres, well watered, with a convenient dwelling-house and a large barn. Also mentioned in the 1813 FOR SALE ad was an extensive apple orchard. He and Maria were buried in the Van Patten burial ground, Barheydt Road, Glenville; removed to West Glenville Ref. Ch. Cemetery in 1962. He was described as a tapster.
