BARONY OF ROCHE (IV)
WILLIAM DE LA ROCHE, brother and heir [of John 2nd Baron dsp. bet. 1 Jun & 14 Sep 1314; and Thomas 3rd Baron dsp. bef. Aug 1324]. In 1326, and again in 1330, 1342 and 1348, staying in England or Wales , he named attorneys in Ireland. He held Llysfrane as one knight's fee of the Bishop of St. David's, and Hodgston as 1 fee of the Earl of Pembroke. He was a commissioner of oyer and terminer in co. Pembroke, 1331.
He married possibly Maud, daughter of Roger, 1st Lord Grey of Ruthyn, by Elizabeth, daughter of John 1st Lord Hastinges, and was living in January 1367/8. He died in or before 1377 [? circa 1370]. [Complete Peerage XI:43-4, XIV:550, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]

According to CP XI:43-44, William had a son John, dsp. before his sister, Mary (Mariota) who d. bef. 21 Jun 1377. ; Mary m. John Fleming styled Baron de la Roche and had Margaret Fleming, who m. Sir Roger de Claryndon (who survived her) and, still under age, dsp. 9 Sep 1382. After Margaret's death, the barony and lands were divided among the descendants of William's sisters.
