Kind(er):
Walter de Norwich (c1275-1329), who held the manor of Stoke in Norfolk in 1297. Knighted sometime around 1308, he served in various exchequer offices, and in 1311 was Chief Baron of the Exchequer. In 1318 he was one of the commissioners appointed to arrange a reconciliation between Edward II and Thomas of Lancaster. In 1322 he was one of the judges in the trial of the Mortimers. He married Catherine, daughter of John de Hedersete (not Herbert, as some sources have it) and widow of Piers Braunche. Six children: (1) Sir John de Norwich, 1st Lord (died 1362) - descendants in the female line, but I think not us; (2) Sir Roger de Norwich (died childless in 1371); (3) Sir Thomas de Norwich, whose daughter Catherine married Robert de Breuse but had no children; (4) Margaret, married first Thomas de Cailly, Lord of Buckenham (no children) and second Robert de Ufford, 1st Earl of Suffolk, whose descendants eventually inherited the Norwich manors; they are Kohn ancestors via Fitzhugh; (5) Cicely, married Sir Roger de Huntingfield; and (6) Catherine, married William de la Pole - parents of the first Pole earl of Suffolk.
