Scroll to P. 181 for information on John Horton. Miss White was not familiar with Uriah Horton's affidavit in support of the widowed Mary Montanye Horton's Rev. War pension application, and so [incorrectly] assigned John Horton to a Horton family in Orange County, New York, rather than in Roxbury Township, Morris County, New Jersey.

R5242. Uriah Horton, nephew of John Horton, in an affidavit sworn at Monsham on 16 June 1838, to support pension application of the widowed Mary Horton, stated that John Horton was the son of Caleb Horton. According to Uriah Horton, the Horton family moved from Long Island to Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, New Jersey, in 1776. In the fall of 1777 the family moved to Blackriver, now called Chester Township, Morris County, New Jersey. John Horton married Mary Montayne in the spring or fall of maybe 1780. They lived in Blackriver for 5 or 6 years and then removed to Wyoming in Pennsylvania.
