MILITARY: Drafted into World War II in 1944, he completed basic training at Camp Blanding, FL; was sent to join Gen George S Patton's 3d Army & Allied Forces in Europe. During Battle of the Bulge, he was wounded & awarded the Bronze Star & Purple Heart. Also wore Combat Infantry Badge & Markmanship Medal. After convalescing in Army hospital in England, he returned to Army Air Force Base, Langley Field, Hampton, VA; later Front Royal, VA, where he met Gladys Martin, his bride to be.
STORY:Between farming sessions, Bob drove 18-wheelers; first for Carr Cookie Company, Wilkes Barre; later for an auto transport company.Under the GI Bill of Rights, he took flying lessons & earned commercial pilot's license; became flight crew member & copilot of Nabisco Cookie Company Inc corporate aircraft & certified FAA flight instructor. Later purchased large motor home; travels between PA, TX, & NM to visit family, buying & selling antiques enroute. Bob is a member of Masonic fraternity.

Robert I. Sickler, 85, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011, at the
Buffalo Valley Nursing Home, Lewisburg, Pa. Robert was born on December 18,
1925, in Noxen, to Clyde and Vergie Kline Sickler. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Robert had a varied career including farmer, mechanic, truck driver, pilot, and flight instructor. He retired 20 years ago and lived in Watsontown, Pa., for the past five years. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Gladys Martin Sickler; and brothers Clyde Sickler Jr. and Burton Sickler. Surviving are children, Connie S. Levsen, Robert I. Sickler Jr., and Debra S. Hart; sisters, Alma Skopic and Edith Liqua; brother Richard Sickler; and grandchildren, Dr. J.
Scot Hart Jr., Capt. Robert I. Sickler III, Melisa Hart and Lt. Kelly
Sickler Cole. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the
Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 672 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with
Nancy Jacobs officiating. Interment will be in Wardan Cemetery, Dallas.
