Carl W. Butler Sr, 70, of Noxen, died Friday [23 June 2000] at Huntington Twp due to injuries received in a motor vehicle crash. Born Nov 15 1929 in Noxen, he was the son of the late William & Agnes Shook Butler. He resided in Noxen all of his life and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed as a tool and die maker for Kanaar Corp for 20 years, was a correctional officer for the Luzerne Co Correctional Facility for 27 years, served a chief of police in Noxen for 15 years and was supervisor for Noxen Twp for the last 20 years. He was a member of the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church, Harveys Lake; the National Wild Turkey Federation; the South Mt Land Assn; the PA Assn of Twps and Boroughs, and the National Rifle Assn. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Virginia Patton; and brother Robert Butler. Surviving are his sons, Dale Carl, Kenneth, Kevin, Jeffrey and Carl W Butler Jr, all of Noxen; David Butler, Shickshinny Lake; brothers, Leroy Butler, Noxen, Larry Butler, Loyalville; sister, Carolyn Weaver, Noxen; nine grandchildren and four gr-grandchildren. Funeral Services Wed 11 a.m. from Curtis L Swanson Funeral Home, Pikes Creek, with Rev L.D. Reed, officiating. Interment in Orcutt's Grove Cemetery
