'STEVE' MONTANYE, CANAJOHARIE TRUSTEE, GOP COMMITTEE CHAIR
Canajoharie--A service will be held for Theron "Steve" Montanye, 86, of 121 Otsego St., who died Sunday at home after being stricken.
Born in town of Charlestown, Mr. Montanye attended area schools and lived in the village of Canajoharie since 1925. In 1925, he joined the Beech-Nut Co. and worked for its subsidiaries for 45 years in various positions. In 1970 he retired as plant manager of the baby food department.
Mr. Montanye was active in local politics and served as village trustee from 1950 to 1960; chairman of the town of Canajorharie Republican Committee; and vice chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Committee for several years.
He also served as member of the Montgomery County Draft Board; was an honorary member of the Canajoharie Fire Department; and an honorary member, dispatcher, and director of the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Mr. Montanye was a current member and former director of the Canajohaire-Palatine Bridge Chamber of Commerce and recipient of its Citizen of the Year Award in 1976. He also was an honorary member of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Montanye was a founder and director of the Canajoharie Community Services, Inc.; a member of the St. Mary's Hospital Advisory Board from 1976 to 1990; and a member of the Fort Rensselaer Club of Canajoharie.
He was also a member of the Canajoharie Methodist Church.
His wife, Agnes Folan Montanye, whom he married in 1929, died in 1985. Survivors include a son, John E. Montanye of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; a daughter, Mary K. McGuire of Loudonville; two sisters, Mildred Wixom of Wayland, Steuben County; and Bessie Burke of Binghamton, Broome County; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lenz and Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.

Canajoharie, July 23.—The marriage of Theron Montanye and Miss Agnes Folan, both of this village, took place Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock at the parish home on Cliff street of the Rev. John J. Ready, who performed the ceremony. The
attending couple were Miss Nellie Folan and Leon Folan.' sister and brother of the bride.
After the ceremony the bridal couple left on a wedding trip to the Thousand Islands and Canada. They will make their home in this village. Both are well known and
popular young people and have the good wishes of many friends.
