BARONY OF VAVASOUR (XI) 1453
Henry Vavasour, son and heir [of Henry by Joan Langton], m. Joan, daughter of Sir William Gascoigne. He d. 22 Dec 1499.
[Complete Peerage XII/2:237]
Note: Obviously BP doesn't consider these people Barons, in fact CP follows the line down to their descendant Thomas Vavasour who was created a Baronet, 24 Oct 1628, at which point CP stops because a Baronet is not a member of the Peerage. CP notes that the direct male line continued on until the death, unmarried, of Sir Thomas Vavasour, the 7th Baronet, 20 Jan 1826. As a Baronet is less than a Baron, Thomas was obviously not considered a Baron at the time (1628). CP gives them the title because it was legally (by later doctrine) inherited, not that they were recognized as Barons after the first two, who were summoned to Parliament, in fact many of them weren't even knights.
