She inherited Broomfield from Mary Tash née Jackson,, but never lived there, though her elder son, the only Powys to do so, lived there for perhaps 20 years. Here's, inaccurately, what VCH Middlesex, Vol 5 has to say:
"The estate centred on Broomfield House may have derived its name from John Broomfield, currier of London, who sold land in Southgate to Geoffrey Walkeden in 1566. (Footnote 89) Walkeden was apparently the owner of Broomfield in the late 16th century, (Footnote 90) and Richard Skevington, who lived there in 1593, may have been only the lessee. (Footnote 91) 'Bromehowse' was in the possession of Sir John Spencer, alderman of London, in 1599 and 1606 (Footnote 92) and probably was acquired by the Jackson family (Footnote 93) before 1624, when Joseph Jackson, merchant of London, was one of the principal inhabitants of South Street ward. (Footnote 94) Broomfield House, a copyhold estate, remained with the Jacksons until 1773, when it passed to Mary Jackson and her husband William Tash. At inclosure in 1804 Tash had 582 a. mostly around Broomfield House and on the borders of Southgate and Tottenham, the second largest estate in Edmonton. (Footnote 95) In 1816, when Tash died, (Footnote 96) the estate was sold to Henry Philip Powys. Philip Lybbe Powys, who added the surname Lybbe to his name, sold the house and its 54-acre park to Southgate U.D.C. and the rest of the estate to builders in 1903. (Footnote 97) "
Peter Brown of 37 Belsize Avenue, Palmers Green, London has written a much more enlightening account, though I need to send through some minor corrigenda. It is ISBN 09537422-1-0
