This kingdom included, most notably, the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diocese">bishoprics ofhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diocese_of_Tours">Tours, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diocese_of_Poitiers">Poitiers and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diocese_of_Orl%C3%A9ans">Orléans. Chlodomer married https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guntheuc">Guntheuc, with whom he had three sons: Theodebald, Gunthar, and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clodoald">Clodoald.
In 523–24, possibly at the instigation of his mother https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clotilde">Clotilde, who was eager to avenge her nephew who had been assassinated
by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigismund_of_Burgundy">Sigismund of Burgundy, Chlodomer joined with his brothers in an expedition against the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burgundians">Burgundians. After capturing Sigismund, Chlodomer returned to Orléans. However, Sigismund's brother https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gondomar_of_Burgundy">Gondomar returned triumphantly to Burgundy at the head of the troops sent by his ally, the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ostrogoth">Ostrogothicking https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodoric_the_Great">Theodoric the Great. There, he massacred the garrison the Franks had left behind.Although victorious, Chlodomer had Sigismund and his sons https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gisald&action=edit&redlink=1">Gisald and https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gondebaud&action=edit&redlink=1">Gondebaudassassinated on 1 May 524. He then led a second expedition against the Burgundians. He was killed on this expedition, in the spring or summer of the same year, at the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_V%C3%A9zeronce">Battle of Vézeronce. His three sons were entrusted to his mother until his widow marriedhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clotaire_I">Clotaire I. Clotaire, however, had Chlodomer's children killed, although Clodoald managed to escape. Better known as Saint Cloud, he later became abbot of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nogent">Nogent, having given up his hair, the symbol of the Frankish royalty, rather than giving up his life.
