Died, at his home in Cravens township, Aug. 13, 1910, Bro. B Crawford (Uncle Barney). He was born in East Tenn., April 26, 1836. There he grew to manhood. He was the youngest of 13 children. The oldest was the mother of George and Thomas Harris, of Hogan township, Franklin Co.
When 18 years of age, he was married to Miss Charity Arthur. To their union 11 children were born, 7 of which survive.
When a young man, 25 years of age, the Civil War broke out and he immediately enlisted in the services of the Confederacy. He joined Company C, 11th Ga. Reg., Hood's Div., Longstreet's Corps., and serviced under Gen. Rob't E. Lee until the battle of Gettysburg. In this battle his left leg was shattered. This rendered him unfit for the remainder of the war.
In the year '70 or '71, he professed faith in Christ and joined the Baptist church. He was Baptized by his brother-in-law, Eld E Harris, after he which he lived a consistent Christian life.
He removed to Arkansas in 1878 and settled in Franklin Co. He leaves behind, an aged wife and 7 Children, Mrs. Mary Ann Butts, John L. Crawford, Mrs. Betta Jameson, Mrs. Mary Real, Mrs. Minerva L. Barber, Mrs. Olivia V. Cassidy, and Sydney S. Crawford, sheriff-elect of Franklin Co.
His remains were laid to rest at the Lessley graveyard, Sunday afternoon, Aug., 14, the writer conducting the funeral services. C.M. Partin
