Blest be the bark that wafts us to the shore, where death divided friends shall part no more.. George Adam Blank ,son of Peter and Catherine Blank , was born in Schuykill County, Pennsylvania on the 29th day of July, 1828 and departed this life on November 14th 1912, aged 84 years, three months and 17 days. He was united in marriage with Susannah Noecker, September 3rd 1849. To this union were born ten children, of whom six are still living , Andrew Jackson, George Washington, Elza J.,Eveanna, Samuel Edward, and Lewis M. In the year 1852, the deceased moved from Pennsylvania to Union Township, Auglaize County, Ohio. He came to this township when it was compartively new and thinly settled. He passed through the many hardships and trials incident to the early settlers of a new country. But amidst all his trials , by hard working and economy he managed to aquire quite a competence. He lived on the farm until the year 1866, when he moved into Uniopolis, Ohio where he resided until his death . In the year ,1907, on the 22nd of January, he lost by the hand of death his faithful companion, who had been his stay and solace through all the trials in settling a new country. On the 13th of August ,1907 , he was again united in marriage to Mary Blank of Van Wert County, Ohio, who has been a faithful and devoted wife. The deceased was confirmed in the Lutheran church, early in life, and remained a member of that church until 1910, when he united with the Methodist Protestant church at Uniopolis, Ohio , and remained a faithful member of that until his death. He was deprived of church services for the past year on account of his infirmities , but his heart seemed to be interested in the work of the church , and he was glad to hear of others enlisting for Christ. The deceased was a kind husband , loving father ,a good citizen ,courteous, forgiving and loyal to the principle:that a good life was the life to live;to be happy. He was charitable to all ,even those who mistreated him, he was ready to let it be forgotten and live in peace and harmony. Before he lost his speech ,he frequently spoke of his time being short and that he was prepared to depart. The writer ( John W.Howe) visited him a short time before his death, and although he could not speak, he assured him by the expression of his countenance that all was well. Brother Blank has departed . We can never look into his eyes again, flashing with kindness and affection. We shall meet him at church or the fireside no more. Oh, the last look on our cherished companions of life ,would scarcely be endured ,did not the Blessed Book assure us of a resurrection, and whisper to our hearts the sweet promise of immortality. The deceased leaves a sorrowing wife, six children, eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one brother William Blank, a large number of relatives and many friends to mourn his departure. Folded the hands that have faithfully labored, quietly clasped o're the once troubled heart; Gone are the heartaches , the waiting is ended; Peacefully ,tranquilly, lying at rest. Silent lips that so often in blessings Comforts in trails and in grief did impart. Closed are the eyes that were loving and tender Willing to live, willing to suffer , trusting , though billows would over him roll, Happier still he has heard the sweet summons; Enter thy haven, oh tempest -tossed soul. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Protestant Church , Uniopolis, Ohio, Saturday November 16th ,1912. Rev. Games ,officating. Interment in Fairmont Cemetery. John W. Howe
