Kind(er):
John Amos Fenstermaker ( Jack) was born Nov 27, 1913 in Salt Lake City, Utah. When he was just a baby the family moved to Sandy, Utah. He remembers Dr Barnes coming to the house when his brothers Vern, Charles and Francis were born. His Grandpa Fenstermaker was a big man, so when they flew in an airplane and his grandpa had to share a seat with another he didn't fit all the way into the seat and didn't think to much of airplanes . He never remembers his dad owning a car. His first car was a used 1924 Model T , then he got a 1929 Model A Ford. He met Aunt Gladys while he was out running around with his friends at Riverton to visit cousins. It was love at first sight . They were married the 27th of December 1938 and have 3 children . They lived in Sandy for awhile and then moved into a small 2 room house that was in the field on the farm. In 1946 Charles bought a 2 room pre made home and had it moved onto his parcel of land that included the orchard and encouraged Jack to move his house across the lane from them as Charles was putting in an acess road and power lines. Then they remained there to raise the family and add onto the house. During off season Jack worked in Bingham Canyon and Lake, Utah. In 1964 he went to work for the Metro Water District Plant and the mouth a Little Cottonwood Canyon where he was custodian. He retired from there in 1978. Jack was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints on Dec. 12, 1958. He said the love of Gladys and her desire to be married in the Temple were the catalyst that caused him to finally make this choice. He served faithfully in the church since that time as a counselor to the Bishopric twice and as Stake Clerk. He donated part of his farm to the church to build the chapel on Poppy Lane in White City, Sandy, Utah. The rest of his farm became the stake welfare farm.
