Michael Fenstermacher , another son of Philip Sr was born July 2, 1749, and like others of his family left the parental roof in early manhood. He took up residence in Lynn Twn., where in Oct 1773, he married Philippina Kerschner. She was born Sep 20, 1753. He built an oil mill , which was later changed into a grist mill, on creek near Lynnville , and also opened a store in his dwelling house. It was formerly narred of him that for many years his doors were without locks, bolts or bars. He was urged to fasten his doors and finally did consent. The next week after he had bolted and barred his store it was broken into and some of his goods taken. Michael Fenstermacher took an active part in the struggle for independence . In 1780 and 1782 he was a Sergart in Captain Adam Stahler's first Company of the 6th Battalion of Militia . And in 1783 Ensign of Captian Samuel Everett's 1st Company of the 1st Battalion of Militia . He was a member of the Lynn Twn, Ebenezer Reformed Church ********************************************************************** **** ********************************************************************** **** Last will & Testament of Michael Fenstermacher Lehigh Co., Wills,Allentown,Pa Will Bk # 2 pg # 124 file # 1102 I Michael Fenstermacher ,being high in the years of life,yet with good mind and thought; but reminding myself of the nature of death,I make this my last will and testament ,it is: First ,I commend my undying soul into the hands of the Almighty God who has given it to me, and my body to be buried in the earth in a Christian manner to the satisfaction of my hereafter named executors. Conserning my worldy possessions with which God has blessed me in this lifetime, I give and bequeath in the following manner. Item- It is my will that my beloved wife shall have 2 beds and bedsteads, the cupboard with all that is there in and thereon, the house clock with case, 6 chairs, a copper kettle and such kitchen utensils as many as she herself needs, a table , 2 chests, these articles after her death are to be sold or distributed among my heirs . Further I give and bequeath unto her , 200 in money and the interest shares in the Northampton Bank for as long as she lives. Item- I give and bequeath to my daughter ,Catharina, the sum of 400 pounds, and the heirs of my deceased daughter, Barbara the sum of 400 pounds , and my daughter Elizabeth the sum of 400 pounds. What the said 3 daughters have already recieved from me shall be deducted from the said 400 pounds. As soon as the said daughters have received their 400 pounds ,minus what has been given to them. It is my will that each of my sons shall have the sum of $100.00 The remainder shall be divided equally among my sons and daughters, The heirs of my deceased daughter Barbara, shall have one childs worth... Item- Further it is my will that all f my properties which I have not sold myself shall after my death be sold by my hereafter named executors on conditions that they think best. I do herewith ,authorize and empower my hereafter named executors to give to the buyer or buyers a good and complete right of deed for the land which they have sold. Item- It is my will that soon after my death , all of my assests that I have not bequeathed to my wife shall be sold at public sale . Should any of my children claim yearly pay for having worked over his age of 21, then by law through my executors that sum shall be deducted from the sum that was bequeathed to him. Both are buried in the old graveyard adjoining the Ebenezer church. Michael and Philippina Fenstermacher had seven sons and three daughters, as follows: (1) Jacob, b. April 14, 1775; (2) Philip; (3) Conrad; (4) Abraham, b. Feb. 2, 1781; (5) Johannes, b. Oct. 1, 1785; (6) Daniel, b. Feb. 25, 1790; (7) Peter, b. Feb. 3, 1795; (8) Anna Catharina, b. Dec. 13, 1783, m. Samuel Billman; (9) Elizabeth, m. George Sendel; and (10) Barbara, m. Conrad Kerschner and had ten children: John, Elias, Gideon, Daniel, David, Mathias, Jeremiah, Salome, Catharine, and Abigail. In 1780 and 1782, he was a sergeant in Capt. Adam Stahler's First Company of the Sixth Battalion of Northampton County Militia, commanded by Lt. Col. Henry Henry Geiger (Penna. Archives, Fifth Series, Vol 8, pp. 443 and 502). In 1783 he was ensign by Capt. Samuel Everett's First Company of the first Battalion, commanded by Lt. Col. Michael Bobst (Ibid. pp. 78 and 621). May 2, 1785 he was elected ensign of the First Battalion (Ibid. Sixth Series, Vol. 3, pp. 749) and in the spring of 1786 he held the same office in the 6th Battalion (Ibid, pp.8630). His name appears in a list of "Rangers on the Frontiers 1778 - 1783" (Ibid, Third Series, Vol. 23)
