UDO (-879 or after). The Annales Fuldenses record that the property of "Ernustum" was confiscated at a council in Regensburg in 861, and "Utonem quoque et Berengarium fratres eius, Sigihardum atque Gerolt comites Waldonemque abbatem" were banished as accomplices, specifying that "Uto et Berengarius cum Waldone fratre suo" went to France to "Karolum rege"[101]. Udo of Neustria
Udo was a ninth-century nobleman of East Francia, a son of Gebhard, Count of Lahngau, and older brother of Berengar I of Neustria. He and his brother were afforded their position in the March of Neustria both by kinship to Adalard the Seneschal and the favour of Charles the Bald.
With his brothers, Berengar and Waldo the Abbot, he took part in the 861 revolt of Carloman of Bavaria, possible his cousin-in-law, against Louis the German. The revolt was crushed and the three brothers fled with their relative Adalard to the court of the West Frankish king, Charles the Bald, who granted them wardship of the march against the Vikings while the march against the Bretons was granted to Robert the Strong.
Charles' patronage of the family provoked the jealousy of the Rorgonids, the most powerful family local to Neustria and then controlling the ducatus Cenomannicus (Maine). In 865, they allied with Saloman of Brittany and attacked the brothers. Charles, to attain peace, took the march back and gave it to Gauzfrid, a Rorgonid.
A charter of 879 mentions Udo and his brothers taking part in the foundation of the college of Gemâºnden. Evidently, the death of Louis the German in 876 had allowed them to return to the court of Carloman.
He left a son, Conrad, Duke of Thuringia, who was the founder of the Conradine dynasty and father of Conrad I of Germany. A younger son, Rudolf, became Bishop of Wâºrzburg.

25.¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â daughter .¬â The relationship between the sons of Gebhard and Ernst is clarified by the Annales Bertiniani which record that "nepotes ipsius [Ernestus]" were expelled from the kingdom in 861[86].¬â If the suggestion by Jackman concerning Gebhard's affiliation (see below) is correct, he would have been the brother-in-law not brother of Ernst [I], married to the latter's sister.¬â m GEBHARD, son of [EUDES Comte d'Orlâ©ans & his wife Engeltrudis ---] (-after 879).¬â Jackman suggests that Gebhard (ancestor of the Konradiner) was the brother of Ermentrude, first wife Charles II "le Chauve" King of the West Franks, therefore the son of Eudes Comte d'Orlâ©ans and his wife Engeltrudis[87].¬â However, this appears chronologically doubtful if Gebhard is identified with "Gebehardus" who founded Kloster Kettenbach, as recorded in the charter of "Ludowicus·Ä¶rex" dated 31 Mar [845] in which the king donated property "in pago Heinriche villam·Ä¶Lierschiet" to Kloster Kettenbach "in pago Logonense iuxta fluvium Arda" by "vir·Ä¶fidelisque noster Gebehardus" by charter dated 31 Mar 845[88].¬â Graf im Niederlohngau, east of Frankfurt-am-Main in the Aardbergen[89].¬â Nevertheless, an interesting possible corroboration for Gebhard's relationship with the Konradiner family is provided by the Annales Bertiniani which record that "Adalardo Yrmintrudis reginⶠavunculo" was "propinquo" of the brothers Udo (ancestor of the Franconian Konradiner family), Berengar and Waldo who were expelled from Germany in 865[90], and in a later passage that "Adalardo·Ä¶et suis propinquis Hugonis et Berengario" fought the Vikings in 865[91].¬â "Adalardo" was Adalhard [I], maternal uncle of Gebhard assuming the relationship is as shown here, and the brothers Udo, Berengar and Waldo were of course Gebhard's sons.¬â Graf im Niederlahngau.¬â Monk at Gemâºnden 879.¬â Gebhard & his wife had [five] children:¬â
